A Waterford man convicted of sexually abusing teenage boys in the 1980s is to appeal the severity of his sentence.
Bill Kenneally – a former basketball coach from Summerville Avenue – pleaded guilty to 10 sample counts of indecently assaulting 10 boys in Waterford in the 1980s.
Kenneally was originally charged with 70 counts spanning dates in the 1970s and 1980s.
The 67 year old was jailed for 14 years at Waterford Circuit Criminal Court in February last year.
Kenneally’s lawyers have lodged an appeal against the severity of that sentence.
The Court of Appeal will hear the case on January 26th next year.
