125 jobs to be created at Bausch and Lomb in Waterford

The Taoiseach, Leo Varadker and Tanaiste, Frances Fitzgerald will be in Waterford today for a series of engagements including the official opening of an extension at Bausch and Lomb.

125 jobs are being created following construction of the eighty five million euro extension at the Waterford plant. Some of those have already been filled.

These jobs were announced in April 2015 following the investment in new manufacturing capacity in Waterford, supported by IDA Ireland. The new building is on a 17-acre site beside the company's base in the Waterford Business Park.

It's the biggest investment in the history of Bausch & Lomb in Waterford.

Last December, staff at Bausch and Lomb voted to accept a new pay deal, which averted the threat of strike action and job cuts.

Over 1,300 people are employed in the Waterford plant.

Both the Taoiseach and Tanaiste have a number of other engagements in Waterford today.
