Gardai in Waterford are appealing to road users to stay safe this bank holiday weekend.

Three road deaths have been recorded in the Waterford Garda Division so far this year.

There have been 7 deaths in the past 10 days on Irish Roads.

Sgt. Claire Kenneally  from road traffic unit at Waterford Garda Station says last year there was 21 road deaths in the month of July alone.

The figure this year is 17.

The Gardai are urging motorists to slow down, not to drink or drug drive and put away your mobile phone.

There will be increased speed checks over the weekend.
