Labour assurance over alignment of hospital connected with University Hospital Waterford

Labour assurance over alignment of hospital connected with University Hospital Waterford

A Waterford labour Councillor says his party has been assured by the Minister for Health that
the South Tipperary General Hospital will not be aligned with the University of Limerick Group.

The HSE said in the light of the challenges faced by South Tipp General Hospital, particularly during winter months, they are now examining whether Acute hospital services in the area are supported in the current model of delivery.

South Tipperary is currently part of the hospital group aligned to University Hospital Waterford.

Fears had been expressed that if South Tipp leaves, it will mean three of the four hospitals in the old South Eastern Hospital Group will no longer be connected to Waterford.

However Councillor John Pratt says he has been assured that will not happen.
