There is a serious lack of accommodation for Greenway tourists according to business people operating across County Waterford.
Since the 46km-long route opened earlier this year, businesses have reported seeing far greater footfall thanks to tourists.
But Mary Flahavan of Flahavan’s porridge says the lack of accommodation is preventing the county from really capitalising on visitors.
Helena Gough owns The Local Bar in Dungarvan, and she says business people in the county are combining with Waterford Council to increase accommodation.
Dungarvan councillor Damien Geoghagan says there are plans for the council to meet with business owners along the Greenway to prepare for 2018’s visitors and that the issue will have to be visited in the Council’s upcoming budget.
