Daryl Murphy expected to lead the line ahead of Welsh clash tonight

Former Waterford United player Daryl Murphy, who scored both goals in Friday's win over Moldova, is expected to spear head the Irish attack again tonight ahead of the crucial World Cup Qualifier against Wales in Cardiff.

Shane Long has been ruled out of tonight's clash.

The Southampton striker, who has been struggling with his form of late, is said to have picked up a hip injury.

Newcomers Sean Maguire or Scott Hogan could now be introduced.

Scotland's 2 all draw with Slovenia last night, means a win will guarantee the Boys in Green at least a play off spot.

They also have a chance of finishing as group winners, but that would require Serbia to lose to Georgia.

Both games kick off at 7.45.
