Waterford City and County Council staff still dealing with aftermath of Ophelia.

Waterford Council has advised that there is still some roads that are on flood alert, particularly in the West of the County following heavy rainfall yesterday.

Affected areas include Rathgormack and Ballymacarbry.

Fergus Galvin says they are still dealing with the aftermath of Storm Ophelia earlier in the week where they had to bring in specialist tree surgeons and in some cases specialised heavy duty lifting equipment.

He says although their staff have been working at full tilt since Monday they are now preparing to deal with Storm Brian which is set to bring some bad weather this evening and tomorrow morning.

He says more severe winds could affect trees and power lines already weakened by Storm Ophelia and is urging the public to let them know of any problems.
