Controversial Kilmeaden speed limit to be reviewed

Controversial Kilmeaden speed limit to be reviewed

Waterford Council's Roads Director says a speed limit outside the village of Kilmeaden will be reviewed following criticism.

Last month saw the roll out of new 30 kilometer per hour limits in residential areas across Waterford city and county, as part of a county-wide review of speed limits.

Included in that review is a 3 kilometer stretch of the Old Cork Road before Kilmeaden, which has gone from an 80 to 50 zone.

Officials and some locals in the area have said it's an excessive measure that could bring it's own dangers.

Director of Service Fergus Galvin told Eamon Keane on 'Deise Today' that the Council will "have another look at it."

He said that in the interim they, "are putting up as much in terms of signage as we can do to advise people of the change in speed limit."
