Gardai in Waterford will have extra patrols in place across the City and County today and tonight.
They're encouraging people to enjoy Halloween safely.
Sergeant Larry Langton from Waterford Garda Station says people should report any bonfire piles and they will be removed by the Council.
He says bonfires were a blight on the City for many years.
Waterford City Council removed fifty tonnes of material in 2010 and that has been reduced to single figures in the following years.
Sergeant Langton says there's no control over most bonfires that take place which is really dangerous because you don't know what is being thrown on the fire.
