John Halligan to run again if election is called.

Waterford Minister of State John Halligan says he will be run as an Independent if an election is called.

Fianna Fáil insist Frances Fitzgerald needs to resign as part of any deal to avoid a Christmas election.

Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin will meet again today for crisis talks after negotiations over the weekend.

John Halligan says he would prefer not to have an election at this time. He has spoken to his family and friends and supporters and he says it would be a pleasure to run again. He said he believes people will not want politicans coming to their door at Christmas when they should be relaxing with their families.
