Winterval, Ireland’s Christmas capital is in full swing and is bigger than ever with an impressive line-up of over 45 events and attractions. This year, a host of new musical acts has been added to showcase the variety of talent in Waterford. With a key focus on music and performance, there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained and get the vocal chords warmed up for carol season.
Here are just some of the wonderful musical acts to keep an eye out for:
Waterford Panto Society presents Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
When? 2nd – 30th of December. Where? The Theatre Royal
What is Christmas without a Panto? Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be making their way to the Theatre Royal for a brilliant show with all the spectacular lighting, costumes and scenery you have come to expect from the Panto society. There will also be a full live band, all the latest hits and guaranteed family fun!
Tickets are available on www.winterval.ie or from the Theatre Royal box office and are priced at €19.50.
WLR Winterval Stage
When? Every day throughout Winterval. Where? Palace Square, just behind the Bishop’s Palace.
The WLR Winterval stage has an array of impressive acts this year from gospel choirs to rock choirs and stage schools. The line-up is announced weekly on www.wlrfm.com and there’s something to suit everyone.
When? Sunday, 3rd of December at 19:30pm. Where? St. John’s Church.
Handel’s Messiah is one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in the world, and Waterford welcomes the much loved performance this year at Winterval. St. John’s Church will play host on the night with eighty singers, a full orchestra and soloists coming together from all over the world to perform the popular Christmas masterpiece for Winterval.

Dulcet Vocal Trio present WOW!
When? 8th of December at 20:00pm. Where? St Patrick’s Gateway Centre.
St Patrick’s Gateway Centre will welcome the Dulcet Trio for an evening of music, song and spoken word. There’ll be mince pies, mulled wine and beautiful performances from the Dulcet Vocal Trio and Women of Waterford. The evening will be in support of the Solas Cancer Support Centre.

All That Glistens – On The Mall with Spraoi
When? 9th – 10th December throughout the evening. Where? The Mall
For the first-time ever, Spraoi will feature at Winterval with a dazzling display. All That Glistens – On The Mall with Spraoi will treat audiences to a performance from world renowned trapeze artists and dancers. The performance is completely free.
Christmas Day in Central Library
When? 14th December at 11:00am. Where? Central Library
Central Library will come alive to the beautiful carols of Bealtaine Library Choir. This once off performance promises to be a wonderful morning event and the library is the perfect festive venue to enjoy some of your favourite Christmas carols.
House of Waterford Crystal Christmas Market Series
When? Weekend 16th – 17th December from 13:00–15:00pm. Where? House of Waterford Crystal
The House of Waterford Crystal invites people to experience the magic of Christmas in the beautiful Waterford Crystal building. Choirs and piano recitals will be happening throughout the weekends of Winterval and it’s all free!
Lion’s Club Carol Concert
When? 16th December at 16:00pm. Where? Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity
The Lion’s Club have put together an amazing show this year and will be singing all the best Christmas carols. Arriving early is recommend as seats are limited.
