Waterford Childline Centre closed due to lack of funding.

News has come that the Waterford branch of Childline has closed last Sunday due to budgetary constraints. This branch deals with Childline calls within all southern counties including Wexford, Waterford, Carlow and South Tipperary.

Speaking on Déise Today Director of Services with the ISPCC Caroline O'Sullivan said that despite investing €100,000 into the centre every year it was not enough to keep the Childline centre open.

She also raised the issue of funding stating that Waterford recieves less than 5% of the overall total government budget for these centres despite answering calls from children from all over the south of Ireland.
