On Tuesday’s Drive Home, TY students Emma Selmia and Milena Torosyan from the Ursuline in Waterford popped into Teresanne on The Drive Home to tell us about The Glow Run; a 4k run/walk taking place in the WIT Arena, Carriganore on Saturday the 27th of January in aid of Pieta House.
Both Emma and Milena told Teresanne that the charity is very close to their hearts, as it has helped so many students in their school and community and continues to provide amazing support every day.
The Glow Run is similar to colour dashes that have taken place in Waterford before, however this event will see runners and walkers doused in special neon powders that glow in the dark. The girls explained that this is to symbolise impact Pieta House has on those they help in society; to be a light in the dark.
On the night there is plenty of entertainment lined up with live bands playing along the route; the Discover Waterford hot air balloon will put on a ‘glow performance’ and Olympian, Jessie Barr, will officially open the event with WLR’s Rachael O’Shea from The Social Network (Fridays 7-10pm).
This Glow Run is a family event but it is advised that children under 5 refrain from taking part.
Tickets are €15 and can be bought during selected hours in City Square Shopping Centre, WIT Arena Carriagnore or at anytime online at Eventbrite.ie.
