A decision on a major extension at Ardscoil Na Mara in Tramore is expected over the coming week.
If given the go ahead it will be one of the largest schools in the Country.
Ardscoil which replaced the CBS and Stella Maris Secondary Schools currently has capacity for over one thousand one hundred student.
Waterford Fine Gael TD John Deasy says the growth that they have had was not expected and the extension needs to happen quickly.
Education Minister Richard Bruton has told the Fine Gael TD that it is his Departments intention to provide an extension to the school to meet the demand for additional school accommodation in the area.
John Deasy says measures to ensure traffic is able to flow at peak times will have to be introduced.
