The appeal against the severity of the sentence handed down to a Waterford man convicted of sexually abusing teenage boys in the 1980s is set to be held in Dublin today.
Bill Kenneally, a former basketball coach from Summerville Avenue, pleaded guilty to 10 sample counts of indecently assaulting 10 boys in Waterford in the 1980s.
The 67 year old was jailed for 14 years at Waterford Circuit Criminal Court in February 2016 .
His lawyers lodged an appeal against the severity of that sentence.
The case will be heard today in the Central Criminal Court in Dublin
and is expected to take half a day.
