Work on a 30-acre leisure village in Ballybeg could start within six months

Work on a 30-acre leisure village in Ballybeg could start within six months

It emerged in this week's 'Waterford News & Star' that a developer has been in discussions with Waterford Council for a number of months.

Councillor Jason Murphy says he brought an investor to the site last year who had been looking at areas for development across the South East.

"It's a family fun, fitness offering," he said, "it would have a huge range of activities. Let me put it this way, there won't be a wet weekend in Waterford now where people find they have nothing to do."

Councillor Murphy says they're at the pre-planning stage.

"He (the investor) is meeting again with the council in four weeks to put more detailed plans in place," he said, "then it will go to planning and that will be done in a transparent way."
