Oireachtas members from across the South East are to meet with the Minister for Health today about cardiac services in the region.
Simon Harris is expected to update TD’s and Senators on the national review of cardiology services.
Over 2,000 people took part in a march in Waterford City on Saturday calling on the government to implement round the clock interventional care at UHW.
It was announced last week that the mobile cath lab, which has been in situ since September of last year, will remain at the hospital for an additional 10 weeks.
Tallow based Labour Councillor John Pratt says other regions should be supporting the South East’s bid for increased services.
He says that the extension of the mobile cath lab’s term at the hospital is welcome, but doesn’t address the issue of emergency care.
