St. Patrick's Day parades take place across Waterford City and County this afternoon

Waterford's Viking Heritage will be celebrated as part of today's parade in the City.

The action gets underway at 1.00pm with over 60 colourful entries taking part.

The Grand Marshal this year, is the Ambassador of Norway to Ireland, Else Berit Eikeland.

There will be road closures will be in place along the Quay, The Mall, Parnell Street, The Glen and roads leading onto and off this route.

Portlaw will get the festivities underway in Waterford this afternoon, their 4th annual parade kicks off at 12 noon.

The Cappoquin parade celebrates it's 10th anniversary this afternoon. It gets underway at 12.30pm.

The remainder of the days's parades take place at 3pm in Dungarvan and Tramore.
