Gunners start Co. Senior hurling Championship campaign with victory over Abbeyside

Ballygunner began their five in a row quest with a hard earned win over Abbeyside at a rainy Fraher Field.

Peter Hogan's first half goal proved to be crucial as the Gunners recorded a 1-12 to 0-7 win.

Both sides finished with fourteen men after John Hurney and Barry Coughlan received their marching orders.

Meanwhile, Lismore started their Co. Senior hurling Championship campiagn with a five win over Passge in Fraher Field this afternoon.

The Western side were 2-10 to 0-3 points in front at half-time having played with a strong breeze, the goals coming from Ray Barry and Jordan Shanahan.

Passage improved upon the resumption, and a lte goal from Jamie Burke gave the scoreboard a better reflection.

It ended Lismore 2-14 Passage 1-12.
