Councillor blames funding shortfall for Tramore on overrun in Dungarvan improvement works.

A Waterford Councillor says the over run on the Dungarvan public realm works means Tramore has had to wait for improvements.

Council plans to revamp the centre of Tramore is estimated to cost one point four million euro.

The Redevelopment of Grattan Square in Dungarvan cost 2.1 million euro more than expected.

Independent Councillor Joe Conway says the appearance of the centre has been disappointing for for a long time which has had a negative impact on the economic and social life of the town.

He says a number of hotels in the town are empty which is a challenge.

Joe Conway says Tramore has had to wait for improvements because of what he described as the debacle which happened in Dungarvan.

He says there would not be a problem with funding if they had not overrun in Dungarvan.

He wants stringent fiscal checks and oversight to be in place in any works in Tramore.
