The Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre, in Waterford City is to close for a number of weeks in July but will re-open under new management in September.

The aging brotherhood in Mount Sion and the demands of both the Primary and Secondary Schools has led to a new management structure at the Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre in Waterford City.

The Centre will close for a number of weeks on July 31st and a new entity run by the European Province of Christian Brothers will run it from September.

The centre has been open for 14 years and is used by a large number of community groups in Waterford.

Brother Phil Ryan said hours of opening, which are at the moment from early morning to late at night are expected to be cut but the centre will be open to community groups.
