Déise bow out of Munster Minor football Championship

Waterford minor football boss Tom Flynn says that underage players shouldn’t be forced to choose one code over the other after his side went down 2-11 to 2-6 against Tipperary in the Munster championship play-off last night.

The Premier scored 1-4 without reply in the first half to take control and set up a semi final meeting with Clare.

James Power and Aaron Ryan found the net for Waterford. Liam Fennell was dismissed on a harsh second yellow card.

Speaking to WLR Sport after last night's action in Leamybrien, Tom Flynn was disappointed that only one dual player could commit to this year’s squad.

He believes strongly that minor players can juggle two sports.

Waterford have been struggling to get mentors for underage football squads Tom says the clubs need to step up to the plate.

Tom says he was proud of his sides effort last night and right throughout the campaign.
