A man has been remanded in custody following an assault in Waterford City yesterday morning.
The incident happened at 11am in Bath Street when a man walking to a taxi was struck from behind.
He fell into a hedge and cash was taken from his pocket.
34 year old Nicholas Veale of no fixed abode was arrested by gardai in the city centre a short time later.
He appeared at a special sitting of Waterford District court this morning
and was remanded in custody to appear in court again next Tuesday.
A man was arrested following a break in to the Eddie Rocketts Restaurant on the Dunmore Road in Waterford City at 3.29am this morning.
Gardai attended the scene when the alarm was raised and a number of males were seen running from the premises.
The window at the side of the front door had been smashed and a safe had been taken.
Gardai arrested one a man and he is presently in custody in Waterford Garda Station.
