Vigils in solidarity with women affected by Cervical Cancer scandals to take place in Waterford

Two vigils will be held in Waterford tomorrow in solidarity with the women affected by the Cervical Cancer scandal.

Peaceful protests will take place in Grattan Square in Dungarvan at 5.30pm and in John Roberts Square in Waterford City at 8.15pm.

The organisers of the Waterford City event are calling on people to "join us in a peaceful vigil in support of the brave women such as Vicki & Emma who have found themselves in the most unimaginable situation as a result of the government's decision to put saving money before women's health.

"We will stand together to show that we are grateful that these courageous ladies are fighting for every woman in the country and to show them the are not alone! Much love & respect xx"

Fiona Vaianella is behind the Dungarvan event: "This is not a political protest , it is a peaceful protest to show our support for the women who have died and who are going to die due to the Cervical Cancer Scandal. I said peaceful not silent so feel free to bring pots, pans, spoons, whistles etc if that's what's needed to be heard! It's personal now and justice needs to be done for the women of Ireland."
