Tommy Tiernan among the sterling comedy line-up for All Together Now in Portlaw

It’s a case of ‘Bawl Together Now’ as the comedy lineup is announced for this inaugural August Bank Holiday Festival. Set back into the forest of Curraghmore grounds, the beautiful Spiegeltent is to be graced by some of the biggest names in Irish comedy, over the August Bank Holiday weekend and they don’t come much bigger than the mighty TOMMY TIERNAN.

An award-winning comedian, actor, TV presenter and writer, Tommy has smashed box office records all over the world, including 250 (and counting) sold out shows at Dublin’s iconic Vicar St, and his numerous DVDs have gone platinum several times over. His groundbreaking TV show has been described as the future of chat shows and it will return for a new season later in the year. An accomplished actor, his recent credits include Druid Theatre’s production of Sive, ‘ Fr Ted’, ‘Dave Allen at Peace’ and most recently the hit Channel 4 comedy series, ‘Derry Girls’.

STEVE FROST IMPROV ALL STARS transform random audience suggestions into a show of spontaneous, magical, never to be repeated again, comedy. They create sketches and comic dramas that are amazingly inventive that take off into flights of fanciful brilliance.

Dubbed by the New York Times as ‘truly subversive’, LORDS OF STRUT smash out the funniest, fantastical routines through their endless melodrama. No one does absurd dancey soap operas better than the Lords. Hell, they even won over legendary curmudgeon, Simon Cowell.

DAVID MCSAVAGE is probably Ireland’s most cutting-edge comedian. Creator and star of ‘The Savage Eye’, this is humour tossed with anarchy and psychosis. His truth filled commentary and intense performance leave no stone unturned and no cow is sacred.

Impossible to categorise, THE DIRTY CIRCUS is a heady mix of Comedy, Drag, Pole, Circus, Burlesque and a whole lot more. The crew promises punters a night of sauce and debauchery and the finest naughtiness.

With his hangdog deadpan demeanor and immaculate mastery of language, KEVIN MCALEER is widely regarded as the most influential comedian, no less than Stewart Lee named him in his top 5 comics in the world.

Immortalized as the gurrier priest ‘Fr Damo’ in Father Ted (CH 4), JOE ROONEY is one of Ireland’s most popular comedians, occasionally laconic, at times infectiously manic, but always riveting, Joe is in a league of his own and is quite simply unmissable.

With their astoundingly hilarious lyrics, beautiful vocal skills and a natural facility for artfully wry banter, THE NUALAS are the cult queens of Ireland and they have put the b back in bejaysus.

COLM O’REGAN, has written 4 best-selling books, is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian and an award-winning broadcaster and columnist, whose subtle and nifty set is a gentle pleasure. An effortless talent that is both funny and inventive.

Limerick’s KARL SPAIN needs no introduction as it seems that everyone knows and loves this affable Limerick ragamuffin and no festival would be complete without his acerbic wit.

Originally from Cavan, and former ‘Republic Of Telly’ presenter, KEVIN MCGAHERN has performed at festivals all over the world, his laid-back style has won him legions of fans across the country... miss him at your peril.

Probably better known as ‘Fair City’s’ Cathal Spillane, ERIC LALOR is also a damn fine stand up comedian, whose warm energetic onstage presence makes for an unforgettable experience for the audience.

Surreal messer, THE VIPER HIGGINS, rose to fame as the mischievous local hoodlum in the cult TV show, ’The Hardy Bucks‘. His online news series, Vipers Views’ has been seen by over 10 million people worldwide.

KEVIN GILDEA has been a major part of the Irish comedy scene for the past three decades. Charming and funny, he can twist an unexpected punchline out of the most unpromising set-ups. Quirky and likable, he is heading towards national treasure status.

AINDRIAS DE STAIC is a wild-eyed shock of Celtic unpredictability, who uses his exquisite fiddle playing to adorn and embellish his stories of football, mayhem and magic.

Actor, satirist, writer and 1/3rd of the legendary ‘Apre Match’, GARY COOKE, has lately taken to Pop Punk with his band, The Vids, expect spot-on impressions, lampooning and plenty of mild-mannered mischief.

JOHN COLLEARY, is a star and co-writer of the thrice IFTA nominated, ‘The Savage Eye’. He also stars in ‘Bridget and Eamon’ and the ‘Tommy Tiernan’ show. John is one of the most entertaining and captivating comics on the Irish circuit right now.

PATRICK  MCDONNELL is possibly the most underrated comic in the country right now. Forever to be associated with the gormless character ‘Eoin McLove’ whom he played on ‘Fr Ted’, Pat’s gently fey style belies a surreal take on Irish social and political life.

Aside from the established acts, All Together Now has handpicked and will showcase some of the most exciting and soon to be comedy stars, so we can expect strong sets from RONAN GRACE, PAUL MARSH, STEVEN MULLAN, JULIE JOHNSON, TOTALLY WIRED, BERNARD CASEY, EDDIE MULLARKEY, PAUL DAVID MURPHY, RICHEY SHEEHY and LISA CASEY who was crowned ‘Irish Comedian of The Year’ at this year’s Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway.
