County Board Chairman urges fans to travel to Clare for opening match

The Waterford County Board Chairman is encouraging all Deise fans to show their support for Derek McGrath's charges this weekend.

The Waterford hurlers make the trip to Clare for their opening game in the Munster Championship on Sunday.

The new format kicked off last weekend where Clare lost to Cork and Limerick overcame Tipperary.

Paddy Joe Ryan says hopes people will travel to Ennis on Sunday: "We're hoping for a very good result on Sunday, we're hoping for good support as well." He added that "Sunday is the time to go, no point in waiting because we're going to Ennis next Sunday where the most support will be against us in all the championship I would say. We need our people to go Sunday and hopefully we're going to get a good result but I'm looking forward with confidence."
