Renowned Waterford dance instructor wins international award for service to Lion's Club charity

The founder of one of Waterford's biggest dancing schools has received an internationally recognised award for her contribution to Waterford charity.

Betty Bible-Mulcahy was the recipient of the Lion's Club Melvin Jones award at a special ceremony in the Tower Hotel last night.

She became just the second Irish non-club member to ever take the honour.

Betty is the driving force behind the Lion's Club's most popular annual fundraiser, 'Strictly Déise Dancing,' which has been running for the past decade.

She says she was thrilled by last night's event, and praised the role that the Lion's Club have played in raising money for great causes locally.

Betty told WLR News that the 'Strictly Déise Dancing' event has gone from strength to strength over the past ten years.

"This year was our tenth year, and it's been absolutely fantastic," she said, "the standard of dancing was terrific, every bit as good as you'd see on television!"
