Irish singer songwriter Gavin James has had a whirlwind 20 months since the release of his debut album ‘Bitter Pill’ which saw him sell over 2 million singles worldwide. He has established himself as one of the leading breakthrough Irish artists of the past year and given his captivating live performances, it’s no surprise. As well as opening for acts including Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Niall Horan, his smash hit ‘Nervous’ hit No.1 everywhere from Holland to Brazil. The future is certainly looking bright for Mr. James!
Live at the Marquee Saturday June 16th
Nathan Carter is a sensation! In Ireland he outsold One Direction, Pharrell Williams and Michael Buble, and became the first country act to reach number one in the Irish charts in 2013 after Garth Brooks, six years before. He is an exciting feature on the UK Country scene, and once again tops the Irish charts with his fifth album ‘Where I Wanna Be’ which features his unique blend of Celtic, country and pop! Not bad for the cherubic former head choir boy who sang for Pope John Paul ll in Rome.
Live at the Marquee Sunday July 1st
German, electronic quartet Kraftwerk have been described as the “Godfathers of electronic music”. With many of today’s artists claiming inspiration from the group, their only Irish date is a must see. Their current 3D tour is described as a ‘total work of art’ and in January 2018 Kraftwerk won a Grammy (best dance/electronic album) for “3-D The Catalogue,” a high-tech recreation of their back albums.
Live at the Marquee Wednesday July 11th
The American Pie singer (which was recently inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame!) hits Cork this June for one of his several Irish dates this year. Mc Lean’s awards and accolades include, being inaugurated into the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2004 and being awarded the BBC Folk Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. In 2007, Don McLean shared his life story in Alan Howard’s biography, The Don McLean Story: Killing Us Softly With His Songs.
Live at the Marquee Thursday June 14th
Chic and Nile Rodgers are no strangers to the Marquee and they certainly know how to get the crowds going! Grammy-winning composer, producer, arranger, and guitarist Rodgers has helped create some of Chic’s most memorable songs, as well as working with the likes of David Bowie, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Daft Punk. You’ll be guaranteed a night of dancing on June 17th!
Live at the Marquee Sunday June 17th
These 4 lads are regulars to the Live at the Marquee stage and they’re back again this year for 2 dates, one of which is already sold out! Front man Danny O’Reilly was brought up in a musical house (his mother is Mary Black, his aunt Francis Black and the fantastic Roisin O is his sister) so it’s no surprise he ended up in one of Ireland’s most popular groups, along with Graham Knox, Dave McPhillips and Conor Egan. The Dublin foursome are in the middle of a world tour with dates in America, the UK and Canada on the horizon.
Live at the Marquee Friday July 13th and Saturday July 14th
