A west Waterford councillor has called for action on motorists performing dangerous stunts on main roads.
Gardaí told members of Waterford’s Joint Policing Committee that there has yet to be a prosecution brought against people performing wheelies in the city or county.
Fianna Fáil’s James Tobin says the Lismore to Cappoquin road is usually targeted.
“The road is completely just a tyre mark, the tar is gone and it’s wheelies all the way from Lismore to Cappoquin. It’s an unbelievable sight, and the worst I’ve ever seen… and it’s treacherous”.
James Tobin says those executing the manoeuvres are worse than drink drivers.
