Standout display from Beth Carton helps Waterford claim a vital Championship win over Limerick

A standout performance from Beth Carton helped Waterford secure a vital Championship win over Limerick at Walsh Park yesterday.

Carton and Kaiesha Tobin delivered first half goals for the Deise.

Sibéal Harney was sent off on a second yellow card but the home side hung on for a victory that keeps them in contention for the All Ireland quarter finals.

Manager Donal O'Rourke was thrilled with Carton's display.

"People don't realise how dedicated she is, she's an absolute pleasure to work with," he said. "She was very good from the frees. I put a bit of pressure on her going in to the game with the frees. She hadn't him them brilliantly against Kilkenny, but she worked and worked, and she nailed them today."

The manager did feel that the decision to sent Sibéal Harney off on a second yellow card was harsh.

"The first was for tugging the jersey, that's fair enough. The second I thought was harsh, but it didn't affect the result in the end."
