His clubmate Niamh Whelan was 3rd in the B100 metres in 11.79 seconds and Lisa Houlihan West Waterford was 4th in the pole vault.

Micheál Power West Waterford was a close second in the junior 1500 metres with David McGlynn Waterford third in the same event. Lucy Holmes West Waterford was 5th in the junior women's event.

Bandon AC's Phil Healy, who is training in Waterford, became the first Irishwoman to dip under 23 seconds over 200m by clocking 22.99 in finishing third at CIT. She set a new 100m record last month at the Morton Stadium.

"Absolutely amazing!” Healy declared after her race, adding: "That’s my second national record in a few weeks."

"22.99 - dipping under 23 seconds even though there was a massive headwind on the bend. I’m absolutely thrilled to finally get the time!"

"To turn around and see everyone standing on home soil, Cork turf, is absolutely brilliant."

"I moved to Waterford this year, and my coach Shane (McCormack) is definitely the main reason (for the record) along with my training partners, and the whole group of us together feeding off each other."

"It’s all bringing us up leaps and bounds, the boys and girls. It’s absolutely brilliant."
