Run to honour memory of Dara Fitzpatrick to take place at Waterford Airport

Captain Dara Fitzpatrick will be remembered in Waterford this September.

The second Dara Fitzpatrick Memorial Run will take place on the runway of Waterford Airport on Saturday, September 15th.

Captain Fitzpatrick was one of four crew members on-board the helicopter Rescue 116 which crashed off the Mayo coast on March 13th last year.

Commenting on last year's event, one of the organising team, Ray Leahy, said: "The success of last year's event is due to the commitment, dedication and kindness of our volunteers, sponsors and supporters who turned up to help us with the run. We saw such amazing support in action, it was really a wonderful thing to be part of and a beautiful tribute to a marvellous, brave lady."

With the theme ‘Remember and Make a Difference’, the run remembers Dara Fitzpatrick and the work she did with Rescue 117 as she flew over the skies of the South East, and also makes a difference by raising funds for two charities, RNLI and Dogs For The Disabled.

Registration will open shortly and participants can sign up to the mailing list here. The number of participants will be limited and those interested are advised to register early to avoid disappointment as this event sold out early last year.

If you can’t join but wish to donate, you can also do that on the DF Run website
