It's a bug's life for the 2018 Spraoi parade

The Spraoi festival reaches its pinnacle tonight with a host of creepy crawlies taking to the streets for the parade.

A multitude of construction artists, musicians, dancers and performers will take part in what is one of the largest outdoor arts events in Ireland.

Beginning at 9.30 in Johnstown, the spectacle will wind through John's Street, Michael St, Broad St, John Robert's Square and Barronstrand St before finishing on the Quay with the customary fireworks display.

Spraoi is one of the largest outdoor arts events in Ireland and costs around a quarter of a million euro to stage.

People are being encouraged to give €5 or whatever they can spare to Spraoi collectors as part of the festival's 'Gimme 5' campaign.
