Hunt hat-trick sees Waterford FC secure place in second round of FAI Cup following Skerries victory

Waterford FC booked their place in the second round of the FAI Cup following a comfortable 4-1 win over a battling Skerries United in Dublin this afternoon.

Weather conditions were far from ideal with a strong wind and driving rain.

The Blues ked 2-nil at the interval with Noel Hunt and Gavan Holohan getting the goals for Alan Reynolds charges.

The home side started the second half brightly and cut the lead thanks to a goal from Brian Snowe before Waterford began to re-assert their dominance.

Noel Hunt had the final say and completed his hat trick with a brace to seal Waterford's spot in the Round 2 draw which will take place on Monday.

Noel told Matt Keane after the game he was thrilled with the hat trick and with returning to winning ways following three staright league defeats.

Blues manager Alan Reynolds also praised his charges for the performance and composure and is looking forward to a massive league tie away to Derry City next Friday at 7:45pm.
