Waterford FC to face Skerries in FAI Cup

Waterford FC will take a break from league duties this afternoon as they begin their FAI Cup campiagn with an away tie against Skerries FC

The Blues will be hoping to return to winning ways following three league defeats in a row at the hands of Shamrock Rovers, Limerick and last week's loss to champions, Cork City

Speaking ahead of this afternoon's tie against Skerries Town, manager Alan Reynolds said: "We want a good cup run. People might see we’re playing a non-League of Ireland team but we won’t be underestimating them. They’ve got to the first round on merit, they've seen how we play and we’ll expect them to have a go at us.

"We’re not taking them lightly and we’ll be approaching it as we do for every game. We’ve a really competitive squad so the competition for places is strong and we’ll utilise that this weekend."
