A housing charity is calling for Waterford to be designated as a Rent Pressure Zone.
Threshold says that a recent Residential Tenancies Board report highlights the need for the City to be added.
Waterford saw an increase in rental costs of between 10 and 12 percent, that compares to a roughly 5 point 4 percent increase in the rent pressure zones of Dublin, Cork and Galway.

Waterford saw one of the biggest increases in the last report from Daft.ie where rents rose by 19.7% in the last year.
The average rent is now 955 euro while in the County it's 863 euro which is 13.5% higher.
