Charities to benefit from Mayors' Ball

Charities to benefit from Mayors' Ball
The three charities to benefit from Waterford's Annual Mayoral ball say they are delighted to be chosen as beneficiaries.

Mayor of Waterford City and County Council Cllr Adam Wyse and Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Waterford Cllr John Hearne will host the ball in the Tower hotel on Saturday (April 22nd).

The event is expected to raise around 45 thousand euro.

That will be distributed between Pieta House, Waterford Marine Search and Rescue and Waterford Disability Network.

Daryl Barry, Chairman of Waterford Marine Search and Rescue says the money will be used for their new search and rescue base in Waterford City.

Olive Ruane from Pieta House says the Waterford office which only opened last year is extremely busy and many people will be helped because of the donation.

John McDonald from Waterford Disability Network said they would continue to fight to improve conditions for the disabled and this money would make a huge difference to the organisation.
