Waterford Council to make Mount Congreve 'signficant attraction'
Waterford City and County Council says it intends to make Mount Congreve Estate a significant tourist attraction for the South East.

The local authority is set to takeover management of the house and gardens once agreement between the State and the Mount Congreve Foundation is approved by the Government.

Ivan Grimes, Director of Services for Housing, Community and Emergency Services, said he expected that agreement to be finalised shortly.
"Our primary objective will be to maintain the high quality and the intergrity of the gardens in to the future."

Cllr John O'Leary welcomed the takeover and said it would be wonderful for the development of tourism in the county.

Cllr Mary Roche expressed concerns about the cost of maintaining the House and Gardens.
