Our Awards
The National Radio Awards is an annual event that recognises the best in Irish radio. While WLR is a local station with smaller production teams than many of the regional and national stations, we still pack a serious punch when it comes to bringing home awards (so much so, that the shelf our awards were displayed on collapsed under the weight of them all recently!)
We have also won 2 GAA McNamee Awards for Best Radio Programme, produced and presented by the late Kevin Casey.
2003 – PPI Award for Short Feature – On This Day
2004 – PPI Award for Deise AM – Best Current Affairs
2005 – PPI Award for Best Documentary – In My Father’s House
2005 – PPI Award for Best Documentary – In My Father’s House
2008 – PPI Award for Local Station of the Year
2009 – PPI Silver Award for Best Sports Story – WLR All-Ireland
2010 - GAA McNamee for Best Radio Programme (Kevin Casey)
