Mrs. Quin’s Charity Shop, Dungarvan - all ladies clothes reduced this weekend  

Lifeboat shop will be open every Sunday from 2:30pm – 4:30pm at the Station House, Dunmore East Harbour. 

The South East Radiotherapy Trust Draw aims to raise money to purchase a people carrier for the use of cancer patients in Waterford  for radiotherapy treatment.
The many amazing prizes on offer include:
A 7 night trip to Bejing for the 2008 Olympics
5 night holiday to Washington DC
Flights to Hong Kong
Flights to Bangkok
and so much more.

Bealtaine is being celebrated at Ardkeen and Brown’s Road Libraries for the month of May and there are events happening almost every day. Bealtaine is the Irish national arts festival celebrating creativity in older age. All events are free but booking is essential. A new art exhibition, titled "Do Irish Clouds Dream of Becoming Sheep?" and other works by Conrado Velasco opens at Waterford City Council Central Library at Lady Lane on Friday May 9th at 6pm. Featured artist, Conrado Velasco, will exhibit  photographs, drawings and objects. The public is warmly invited to attend.

May 11th
The 24th Annual Concern Plant and Shrub Bring &Buy will take place on Sunday May 11th from 2.30 - 5.30pm at Catherine Griffin’s garden, Woodlands, Circular Road, Dunmore East. Paddy McGuire will open the event. All proceeds raised will go to Darfur.

May 11th
A day of renewal to celebrate Pentecost will take place on Sunday May 11th at the Granville Hotel from 10am to 6pm.  The day will involve praise and thanksgiving and mass at 3pm followed by a healing service.  All are welcome

May 11th 
The Annual Legion of Mary (silent retreat) will take place on Sunday May 11th in Gracedieu Retreat House Tramore Road. Beginning with registration at 10.15am followed by periods of silent prayer, sacrament of reconciliation, Mass, free time and reflection. Bring a packed lunch with you - tea and coffee is provided. May 16th and 17th
The Waterford News & Star 24 hour ‘Walk for Life’ will take place at the RSC from 12 noon on Friday May 16th to 12 noon on Saturday May 17th.  People are asked to spare an hour or 2 just to walk a few laps of the running track with the aim to have at least one person on the track at all times over the 24 hour period and to raise vital funds for cancer care.  For details or to make a donation contact Lynda Murphy at the Waterford News & Star on 874 951

The Gealach Gorm Theatre Group present “Costa Del Packet” - a farce by Anthony Booth on Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 16th, 17th and 18th at 8pm in the Gealach Gorm Theatre, Kill. About four women and a package holiday which does not quite live up to the glossy brochure description, with hilarious consequences.

The Old Market House Arts Centre, Dungarvan is currently hosting the prestigious ‘RHA Drawing Exhibition’ and also on display is ‘Market 08’ with a series of paintings by various artists. These exhibitions continue until Saturday may 17th.
The Old Market House Arts Centre is open Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 5pm.  Admission is free and all are welcome.

May 17th
The Dungarvan Gospel Choir will host a Variety Concert on Saturday May 17th in the Town Hall, Dungarvan at 7.30pm, commencing at 8pm sharp in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation and the Local Sesame School. A fantastic line up of talented artists are due to perform at the event including: Dungravan Gospel Choir, Dungarvan Junior Brass Band, Lorna Jane Muurray, String Quartet, James Lenane, Attic Jacs, The Dungarvan No Name Club, Eimear Fahy, Bothar na Sop, Austin Hallahan and Kevin Evans. This is a ticket only event. Tickets cost €20 and are limited so people are advised to purchase early to avoid disappointment. Ballymacarbary Community Games will be holding a Field Evening on Sunday 18th May in Millfield, Ballymacarbary from 2 – 5pm. Races will be run for the County Finals in Waterford. There will also be novelty races, penalty shootouts, cake sale, side stalls and a raffle with great prizes on the day. All welcome
 

May 19th – 25th
High School Musical will be staged at St. Augustine’s College from Monday May 19th to Sunday May 25th. Bookings will be open in St. Augustine’s College from 12pm - 6pm every Saturday and Sunday up until the show opens. This is Dungarvan Musical Society's first production and is cast entirely with all Dungarvan and West Waterford students.

A dramatised reading by the Phoenix Players from West Mersea in England of Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas will be presented at the Town Hall Theatre in Dungarvan on Saturday May 24th at 7.30pm in association with Waterford Institute of Technology.

Childline and the ISPCC are appealing to women across the country to pull on their runners and run, jog or walk in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd June. Dunhill/Fenor Motor Activity/Special Olympic Club are currently looking for volunteers.
The group works at developing the motor activity skills of children with disabilities through a fun environment exercising and playing games. The club is on every second Saturday between 10am – 12:30pm at the Dunhill Enterprise Centre. This summer bask in the beauty of land and seascapes over a weekend that combines adventurous days in the outdoors with enjoyable evenings meeting new people and making new friends on the Kerry Challenge 2008. A Walking and Ramblers Club has started in the area of Dunmore East, Woodstown, Cheekpoint, Passage East and the surrounding areas. The Ramblers Club will be suitable for people who want to enjoy a short walk. There will be a leader for all walkers and ramblers and will be fully organised. The Foróige Ferrybank Youth Service is offering free Evening Study for Junior and Leaving Certificate students. They provide fully supervised study, support to students and supervised Internet access for research and homework purposes. Study is on every Monday from 4pm to 6pm and Tuesday from 3pm to 5pm. The Carers Association service in Waterford County. The areas for outreach are: Dungarvan, Cappoquin, Tramore and Kilmacthomas. Service will provide carers with support, training and information on their rights and entitlements closer to home. Service will operate a day clinic in Dungarvan on Tuesday afternoons in the Dungarvan partnership offices from 2:30-5pm. Co. Waterford Community Drug Awareness
Your community drugs worker is available to you for support, information, advice and drug education.
Stress relief and substance detox clinic is available to entire community. This service offers you a chance to relax and detox for 1 hour a week. Clinic runs every Thursday morning 11-12:30pm in Tramore Library and evening 6:30-7:30pm in Community Building, Ard and Ghleanna, Tramore. Cost is €2 - €5.

Rainbows is a support programme for children aged 6 to 12 years who are experiencing loss due to the death of a relative or parental separation.
