Catholic Bishops have told survivors of institutional child abuse that they will personally deliver a letter from them to the Pope.
Survivors' groups met four senior clergymen in Maynooth today and called on the Vatican to contribute financially to the redress scheme.
Today's meeting is part of a process of engagement between the Church and Survivors' groups following the Ryan report.
Clonmel man Michael O'Brien from the Right to Peace group says the Vatican must step up and take action.
"The bishops said they will take our comments to the Pope and they will wait to see what he has to say" he said.
"We don't want anyone coming back the next time saying 'this was an Irish problem' - this is a Catholic church problem".
"They are responsible for what happens and they must face up to their responsibilities - that's from the Pope down" he added.
