Waterford Ladies crowned All - Ireland B Champions
Waterford beat Kildare in the Under 16 B All Ireland final in John Lock Park, Callan, Co. Kilkenny last night

The Deise faced a stiff breeze in the opening half and had the better of the early opportunities but they failed to register a score. The Lilywhites came more into the game a made use of the wind to run into a 4 point lead. It wasn't till the 18 minute that Waterford opened their account with a point from full forward Aoife Fitzgearld. Waterford were guilty of dropping several balls short and into the hands of the Kilkdare keeper.

Kildare increased their lead and going into injury time in the opening half had a four point lead until Sheena McGuckian struck the vital goal for Waterford, leaving the minimum between the sides. Both sides swapped points to leave the Leinster side a point up at the break.
Waterford opened the stronger in the second half and were in the lead within minutes of the re start. The game was in the melting pot right up to the final whistle and there was only a score between the teams. A yelllow card for the impressive Kildare full back Claire Nugent mid way through the half gave the Deise a slight advantage. Waterford kept their lead and ran out 2 point winners. It was Annie Fitzgearld from the Gaultier club who received the cup on behalf of the Deise at the final whistle

For Waterford, midfielders Kelly Ann Hogan and Keely Corbett Barry had excellent games, Rosie Landers in the goal was solid through out and Aoife Fitzgearld added valuable points a vital stages of the game. It was Hogan who was deemed player of the match after the final whistle.
