The IDA has rejected claims in a recent report on jobs and investment in Waterford and the Southeast.

An Economic Monitor carried out by the Waterford IT School of Business said that of the 51,000 new jobs created over the past five years, less than 1 per cent of them have gone to the South East.

However Brendan McDonald, the IDA South East regional manager says while he agrees with parts of the report, it omitted several positives that the IDA and Enterprise Ireland have managed in the region in recent years.

He said the new advanced technology building that the IDA funded and sold to OPKA was omitted as were wins for the region like MSD Carlow, State Street in Kilkenny and West Pharma in Waterford.

Brendan McDonald says he has spoken with the President of WIT on this and now wants to set up a meeting with the reports author Dr. Ray Griffin.
