A plan to provide free parking for elderly motorists in Waterford is one step closer to becoming reality.
The proposal, aimed at those who fall outside the blue badge disability scheme, has been sent to the Council's transport committee for approval.
The committee is expected to pass it by drawing from a similar plan implemented by Carlow Council and elsewhere.
It was officially proposed by Labour's John Pratt after it was brought up by his colleague Brendan Byrne.

Fianna Fail Councillor Eamon Quinlan says the committee will be teasing out aspects of the plan which should see it over the line.
