Dunmore East ice plant to close temporarily after samples test positive for e-coli

In a statement to WLR News, 'Bord Iascaigh Mhara' confirmed the temporary closure of the plant in Dunmore East, following quality control tests last week.

Twelve customers who took delivery of ice have been notified and advised to destroy any supply of ice.

BIM is currently de-sanitising the plant and will carry out further tests to ensure that all traces of e-coli have been eliminated before resuming normal service.

Results of these tests are expected early next week.

The agency will continue to work with all its customers to accommodate those fishermen who require alternative supplies of ice and is endeavouring to bring about a swift solution to the issue.
