Sean Hogan to represent Ireland in World Skills Competition.

A young cabinet maker from Brownstown, Dunmore East, in County Waterford has been selected to represent Ireland in the World Skills Competition in Abu Dhabi this week.

The competition is considered the Olympics of trades, and features 12 hundred competitors from 68 countries competing across 51 different skills and disciplines.

Sean Hogan is a fourth year student of Furniture and Wood Technology at Galway Mayo Institute of Technology.

He won the National skills competiton last year and has been on a 10 week training course leading up to the trip to the Middle East this week.

Sean's task will be to make a cabinet from scratch in rapid time:
