Ground is being broken this morning on the long-awaited development of St Patrick’s hospital in Waterford.
The new 100 bed residential care centre will have 80 older people’s beds and 20 mental health beds.
All the rooms will be single occupancy, and there will be state of the art facilities including a patient roof terrace, community spaces and courtyards.
The new unit will link with the existing hospital via a glazed link, and the mortuary chapel is also set to be refurbished.
