Plans to redevelop Ferrybank site for housing will go ahead despite fire

Respond! say yesterday's fire at Wadding House will not delay their plans to develop the site.

Ten units of accommodation are being planned, including 8 bungalows and 2 apartments for older people or people with disabilities.

The project will go to tender shortly and the organisation say they hope works can commence in early Summer 2018.

It is not anticipated that the fire will delay the works, as the charity have planning permission to demolish the affected building.

Respond say their security firm re in situ to prevent any unauthorised access as there was major damage to the right side of the building which is now unsafe.

Gardai are asking if anyone was in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning or if anyone has information to contact them at Waterford garda station.
