The Waterford branch of the party will hold it’s selection convention for the next General Election in Lawlor’s Hotel in Dungarvan tonight.
Prospective candidates handed in their nomination papers earlier this evening.
Constituency Secretary John Fitzpatrick says the convention had to be arranged at short notice.
“All selection conventions have to be held by Thursday,” he told WLR News. “It’s to do with the ongoing political impasse.”
Meanwhile it’s understood that sitting Fine Gael TD John Deasy will not be in attendance this evening as he is in the US dealing with the issue of undocumented Irish.
The meetings which were arranged in the States could not be rescheduled on short notice.
Fine Gael HQ are aware of the situation.
