Waterford Councillor says shortfall in voluntary services falling back on the local authority.

Waterford Councillor says shortfall in voluntary services falling back on the local authority.

A Fianna Fail Councillor says a number of Waterford voluntary service providers are in danger of "going to the wall" due to a lack of funding.

Eamon Quinlan's comments come after it was revealed that the Waterford branch of the ISPCC closed its doors last week due to a lack of funding.

Speaking to Maria McCann on 'The Week', Cllr. Quinlan said there was a lot of financial pressure on the service.

He said other counties don't seem to struggle when it comes to securing funding for voluntary services. He says services geared towards older people are being hit and the responsibilities for these services are falling back on the Council.
